MontageJS and Montage Studio seem really awesome and from the looks of it, I would probably love to make them part of my go-to toolset.
But before I jump in and invest serious time, I need to get a feel for how a Real Application is built in it. Most of all, I have a rough time getting a sense of how data persistence works here. Do you have a simple 'best practice' example of using Montage with any type of database and/or REST backend?
Hi Chris, data access is for now something we've been staying away from helping with. Not because we don't think it's necessary, but the exact opposite, because we do. Until we're ready to offer the kind of solution we believe is needed, we chose to stay hand-off. In https://github.com/montagejs/popcorn, you'll see an example using jsonp talking to 2 services, YouTube and tmdb. If you have used libraries in that area before, let us know, you should be able to use them as well with montage.
My Gestalt sense suggests a 'couchapp' like decentralized synced data persistence model. As a nice 'built-in' MontageJS API component.
Same congratulations from me. Great designer, great concept.
It would be nice if I could connect for example strongloop rest api (I beleive I can already) in a super simple way...
Also socket connector ... (e.g. socket.io).
Wish you good luck with your product!
Looking forward to see your solution.
